Choose a Positive Mind; Choose Happiness

Today I was approached by someone who had been reading some of my recent writings and said that my upbeat perspective caused them to have a new outlook on their day and that they wished they could be nearly as positive as I am. To this I said, you can.

It’s crazy to think that just a few years ago, in the midst of my depression, I would have never even dreamed of people seeing me as such a positive person influencing others to see the good in every day, but I am ever so thankful to have made it to where I am today. It definitely takes some effort not to focus on everything that went wrong that day and to always find at least one thing that went right, but man is it worth it.

Whether it’s one of your best days or your worst days, you’re always faced with a decision: “How will I respond?”  When everything seems to be going wrong, it is that moment that truly defines you. Do you choose to be positive and happy with the little things in life or do you choose to be upset and focus all your energy on everything going wrong?

You want a positive life? Then choose a positive mind.

Your emotional quality of life almost entirely depends on your attitude about life. They go hand in hand. You can’t have a positive one without the other. Your viewpoint is everything.

Most people let their happiness be dependent on outside forces and situations. Although life events and circumstances can and will impact your life, what’s really important is how you choose to react to them. You’re ultimately faced with some choices:

What will your frame of mind be? Will you choose to be happy with a positive outlook or will you choose to be sad with a defeated mindset?

What will you choose to focus on? Will you focus on all the things that went wrong in your day or that one thing that might have went right?

How will you move past the circumstance? Will you take away some new learned lesson? Will you decide to make a healthy change? Or will you sit in regret and let the negativity plague you?

How you choose to react is everything. Ever wonder why some of the happiest people in this world have next to nothing and/or some of the hardest life stories you’ve ever heard? It’s all because of their mindset. They chose to be happy. They chose to stay positive. Above all, they chose to let their attitude surpass their circumstance.

Even when the world seems to be crashing down on you, there is always something to be grateful for and smile about, but only you can find that mindset for yourself.

So choose to let your attitude surpass your circumstance.
